About foultip.gg

What is foultip.gg? Free MLB trivia, every day

foultip.gg is a free daily MLB baseball trivia site — think Wordle, but for baseball. Every day at midnight Eastern a fresh slate of 16 games goes live, each one testing a different slice of what you know: the clubs a player turned out for, all-time stat leaders, awards, draft classes, mystery players and records nobody remembers. Whether you catch a couple of games a week or can name every World Series MVP since 1955, something here will catch you out.

Every puzzle is built from Major League Baseball's own statistics and scored in baseball's own language: you spend outs, not lives, and a good round reads like a box score.

The 16 daily MLB trivia games

How it works

Every game resets at midnight Eastern, and the countdown above the grid is the real one — it reads the clock in the puzzle's own timezone, so it says the same thing wherever you are. Play one, play all 16, play none: there is no commitment and nothing to sign up for. Your results and your streak live in this browser, which means no account and no email, and also that clearing your site data clears them.

Missed yesterday? Every puzzle stays playable in the archive. No app to download, no subscription, and no ads inside the games.

Hard MLB trivia for serious baseball fans

If you want baseball trivia that fights back, three of the games are built for it. Connections hides the four categories themselves, so the work is naming the group before you can pick it — sixteen players, and every one belongs to exactly one group. Deep Cut inverts the usual scoring: the obvious answer is a single and the name nobody else would have reached for is a home run, so knowing one more player than the room is the entire game. And Top 10 asks for whole leaderboards from memory, where the back half is always where a round is won or lost.

None of it is written by hand. Every question is generated from Major League Baseball's own records, which is why a statement in Two Truths is either true or categorically false — a club he never played for, an award he never won — rather than a rounding error you are meant to catch.

Frequently asked questions

Is foultip free to play?
Yes. All 16 games are free, there is no account to create and nothing to install. Your results are kept in your own browser, not on a server.
How often do the puzzles change?
Every game gets a new puzzle once a day, at midnight Eastern. Baseball keeps its schedule on Eastern time, so a foultip day is a baseball day.
Which MLB trivia game should I start with?
Career Path. You are shown one club a player turned out for and you name him — guess him off that alone and you have hit a home run, and every extra stint you unlock costs you a base. It teaches the scoring the rest of the site uses.
Can I play yesterday's baseball quiz?
Yes. The archive holds every puzzle since launch, for all 16 games. Nothing expires, and the day you missed plays exactly as it did on the day.
Where do the statistics come from?
MLB's own public statistics API. That is every player who has appeared in a major-league game since 1871 — 23,593 of them — including the Negro Leagues, which MLB recognised as major leagues in 2020.
Is this an official MLB game?
No. foultip.gg is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Major League Baseball or the Major League Baseball Players Association. The statistics are MLB's; the games are ours.
